Eve no Jikan (Time of Eve) is a six-episode ONA (Original Net Animation) series created by Yasuhiro Yoshiura. The series is set in Japan in the near future, where android servants have become a household staple.
The Scene
The majority of every 15-minute episode is set in the titular cafe, "Time of EVE" and each episode revolves around a different character and his/her interactions with others. Many characters are only revealed as a human or android after we've had just enough time to build up our own assumptions about them, and characters inhabit a delightful "grey area" and are never explicitly shown to be human or android.
The Plot
Despite the focus on individual characters and meager run-time of 90 minutes, the series has remarkably good character development and plot, with the ending even leaving room for a sequel.
Why should I watch this anime?
I would particularly recommend Eve no Jikan to fans of series' like Chobits or the Ghost in the Shell, which also explore the boundary between biological and artificial lifeforms, but also to people who just enjoy thought provoking anime and characters in general.
